Vigne & Vini labels in Los Angeles
The treasures of Puglia’s regional wine and food traditions made some new US fans at two evening events.“Mater Apulia – a taste of the old world”was a great success with a Mediterranean colour, organised by the Vigne & Vini winery of Leporano.The venue for the two evenings were top California restaurants Rustico (12 June) and Tuscany (14 June) in Thousand Oaks, 40 km from the City of Angels.The spotlight focussed on 6 labels from the Vigne & Vini winery run by Cosimo and Mariateresa Varvaglione, matched with dishes by chefs Pietro Zito from Antichi Sapori in Andria – Montegrosso and Antonio Di Nunno from Locanda Di Nunno in Canosa di Puglia. The two evenings were hugely successful with the public and attracted over 200 people – not only food and wine journalists and buyers, but also some very well-known Hollywood personalities.Fabio Cascione, sales manager at Vigne & Vini, presented the labels and their complementary dishes at a tasting, while he told the story of the winery and talked about the special characteristics of the Puglian wine scene. The next meetings with the Vigne & Vini labels are due to take place in September in the Big Apple and in San Francisco.
