Moscato di Trani

The Moscato di Trani DOP is most closely linked to the city of Trani, in the Barletta-Andria-Trani province, although it includes nearby communes as well. The production code specifies a single variety, Moscato Bianco, locally known as Moscato Reale, and only two categories of wine are produced, a naturally sweet wine and a fortified liqueur wine. The history of Moscato di Trani goes back as far as the 13th century, when the merchants of the Republic of Venice made the wine famous throughout much of Europe. The production code specifies an alcohol level of 14.5% and a maturation of at least five months. Categories:Dolce Naturale (natural sweet), Liquoroso (fortified).
